What is a Student Ambassador?

Glyndŵr University Student Ambassadors are current undergraduate and postgraduate students, whose principal role is to engage with potential and prospective students.

They provide information and advice from a student-centred viewpoint which helps to break down barriers and increase awareness of Higher Education in general and Glyndŵr University in particular.

What does a Student Ambassador do?

The Student Ambassador scheme gives students the opportunity to gain first hand experience in many different areas including events, customer service, schools liaison, running team building sessions, marketing, administration, and much more.

Current work includes:

representing Glyndŵr University at recruitment events such as Open Days, HE and careers fairs, visits to schools, colleges and community groups
supporting Glyndŵr University staff leading taster days, pre-fresher events, team building/induction days
supporting Glyndŵr University staff at other events such as Wrexham Science Festival, Scientriffic and the Public Lecture Series
providing informative campus tours to prospective students, their parents, careers advisors, the general public and other visitors to Glyndŵr University
making presentations about student life to prospective students
working on the Student Information Desk (SID), in the Job Shop and in the Careers Centre

Student Ambassadors work flexible hours to ensure that the job does not interfere with their studies.

The pay is good too - £5.73 an hour for administrative work and £7.00 an hour for public facing work.

All Student Ambassadors receive specific training related to the work they do, as well as other training such as First Aid, Manual Handling etc.

All in all, it’s a brilliant way to enhance your CV, have fun, meet new people and earn money at the same time!

Who can become a Student Ambassador?
